Broncos update

Apologies for the inconsistent updates while the Broncos have been on the road.

But here are how things are, as they stand now:

The Broncos finally got a road win, after 10 consecutive losses, on Tuesday, by way of a thrilling 6-4 win against the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings.

That leaves them at 5-14 overall with one game remaining in their four-game set against RGV. They come home on Thursday for a four-game homestand against San Angelo.

Contributing to Tuesday's win were Argelis Nunez (RBI double, RBI single), Mario Mendez (RBI single) and Rafael Ozuna (RBI single).

Nunez and Andres Santos scored off errors.

The Broncos trailed 4-3 before rallying with a three-run eighth inning.

Travis Parker earned the win in relief after a so-so outing from Broncos starter Gustavo Vasquez.

Vasquez went seven innings and gave up four runs on nine hits. He struck out seven and walked two.

Tristan Crawford earned the save for Laredo, which had six runs on 11 hits and committed one error.

RGV scored four on nine and also had one error.

The win capped a nice day for the Broncos, who earlier in the afternoon announced the acquisition of catcher Luany Sanchez.

Sanchez hit .319 with 71 RBIs and 18 homers in 77 games for the Broncos last season. He's experienced, a solid leader and obviously a great offensive threat, and he helps shore up a huge weakness at the catching spot.

He is expected to be in the lineup on Thursday.

Since there seem to be so many errors in each of the games played this season thus far, perhaps the coaching staff should give the young players on the bench the opportunity to show their talent especially in the infield.

headchief,

You would not be alone in your assessment. There will come a time, sooner than later I would think, that the Broncos give up hopes on the aging slugger/veteran player to try and give the younger guys a look, guys like Ryan Flynn, Travis Parker and such.
