Broncos win

Broncos win, 9-3.

They're now 19-33 on the season, still five games out of the fourth and final playoff spot with 29 games remaining.

Into the 8th

Argelis Nunez puts the Broncos up 9-2 with a two-run blast in the 7th.

Martinez is back out for the 8th.

He has thrown seven innings so far and has allowed just two runs on four hits.

He has struck out five and walked two.

Into the 7th

Each team went down quietly in the 6th.

Still 7-2 Broncos into the 7th.

Martinez has pitched extremely well tonight. I'm sure GM Jose Melendez is very pleased with the performance.

Broncos lead 7-2

The Broncos now lead 7-2 after Mario Mendez scored on a throwing error by shortstop Amadeo Zazueta with two outs in the 5th.

Into the 5th

Everything is clicking for the Broncos.

Martinez went through another 1-2-3 inning, and Laredo's offense is having no problems with James.

The Broncos have compiled eight hits through 4 and still lead 6-2 into the 5th.

Broncos expand lead

The Broncos now lead 6-2 after Argelis Nunez's one-out sacrifice RBI and Andres Santos' two-run double in the 3rd.

Martinez has pitched a heck of a game so far for Laredo. He's allowed three hits and has struck out four through 3.

Broncos lead 4-2 into the 3rd

It was a fun-filled second inning, as six runs were scored between the two clubs.

After Chris Lewis' one-out, two-run solo slam to left field put the Thunder up 2-0, the Broncos responded quickly, scoring four runs on four hits in their half of the inning.

With the bases loaded and two outs, Jaime Morales and Luis Ugueto drilled consecutive two-run singles up the middle to put the Broncos on top.

4-2 Broncos into the 3rd.

Into the 2nd

Neither team has a hit after the first inning as defense and pitching ruled the early start.

Into the 2nd we go. By the way, Martinez is working VERY quick. Possibly has a hot date tonight. I guess we'll find out sooner than later.

Series finale of Broncos-Thunder

The Broncos' eight-game homestand comes to a close tonight with the finale of the four-game set against Coastal Bend.

Sunday, August 2, 2009

Into the 9th

Broncos trail 12-7 into the 9th.

Only highlight for the Broncos this game have been back-to-back one-out solo bombs by Luany Sanchez and Andres "El Monkey" Santos in the 6th.

Other than that, it's all Thunder, who have compiled 16 hits and appear on cruise control.

Thunder still on top

Coastal Bend now leads 10-2 after 5 innings after scoring three runs on four hits in the 5th to keep their scoring-per-inning streak alive.

The inning was highlighted by a solo homer from Bryan Vickers.

Broncos vs. Thunder, Game 3

Tonight is Game 3 of Broncos-Thunder.

I know I haven't done a great job of updating this blog lately, but hold still. It's been busy and hectic since high school football officially starts tomorrow.

Here's what to know heading into tonight's game:

The Broncos are still in last place in United League Baseball at 18-32. They are five games out of a playoff spot with 30 games remaining.

They come into tonight's contest having lost 6 of their last 10 games. They're 3rd in ULB in offense (.280 average) and next-to-last in pitching (5.01 team ERA).

You can follow tonights game at www.laredobroncos.com, and follow the broadcast at www.sportsjuice.com.

I'll be busy with editing and other duties that work calls for, so I may not be able to update the blog as consistently as I'd like tonight.
