Broncos lose their 4th in a row

The Broncos lost their fourth consecutive game in blowout fashion on Saturday night, falling 14-3 to the Amarillo Dillas.

The league’s second-best offense only managed six hits off Dillas starter Ralph Roberts, who pitched a complete game.

The Broncos are 9-21 heading into the third game of a four-game set in Amarillo.

The Dillas, in second place in United League Baseball, are 16-14.

Laredo scored three runs on six hits and committed two errors. Amarillo battered Broncos pitching for 14 runs on 20 hits.

The Dillas led 4-0 before breaking the game open by scoring four runs in the fourth inning, aided by Terrance McClain’s RBI single and Trent Lockwood’s RBI double.

That ended the night for Broncos starter Nathan Crawford, who went 3.1 innings and allowed seven runs – five earned – on seven hits.

He walked three and struck out one.

The Broncos trailed 9-1 after Jaime Morales’ RBI single in the sixth, but the Dillas poured it on again in the eighth, scoring five more runs.

Laredo’s other two runs came in the ninth inning, as Argelis Nunez blasted a two-run homer.
