Broncos Bits

Some notes of interest for Broncos fans:

- The team is now four games out of the fourth and final playoff spot. If the Broncos can sweep against Edinburg, they will be one game out.

- Former Broncos closer Tristan Crawford was signed to the Philadelphia Phillies' Triple A club on Saturday. Crawford was traded from the Broncos to Grand Prairie of the American Association last weekend. In 10 games for the Broncos, he went 2-2 with a 3.38 ERA.

- Broncos GM Jose Melendez hopes to know by Aug. 1 whether to expect Tano Tijerina, the former Nixon High great and Latin Sports Hall of Famer, as a consistent part of the rotation. By all accounts, it looks that Tijerina will in fact be that, but we will see.

- Remember John Odom? Er, "Batman"? The former Bronco who came to Laredo via a trade for 10 maple bats is featured in the ESPN Magazine that will hit stores soon. Odom died of a drug overdose in November 2008, yet full details of his death weren't revealed until months upon months later.

Here's the link to ESPN's story for those who are interested.
