Complete Schon details

Melendez spoke to me awhile ago to give me a full report on the latest transactions.

Schon (8-5, 4.61 ERA) was traded to Kentucky for catcher Josh Lex.

Lex played last season in the Frontier League. He hit .270 with 44 RBIs and six homers in 74 games of independent ball.

It's obvious Melendez is already looking toward next season - well, he even said as much.

He's looking at trading guys who will be free agents - among of which are Santo Hernandez, Gregorio Martinez and Maximo de la Cruz.

Schon was a free agent. Clemente, who left in a trade to Nashville on Monday, was a free agent.

In regard to the Broncos' final series against Alexandria later this week, Melendez said if the Broncos lose one more game before then, it's a "98 percent" chance the series will not be played.

Alexandria has said it doesn't want to play the series, instead wishing to rest its players for the playoffs, which start next Tuesday.

So, in all likelihood, the upcoming three games are the final ones of the 2008 season for the Broncos.
