Broncos lose to fall back to .500

The Broncos suffered a 12-8 defeat to Edinburg tonight.

Santo Hernandez (4-2) got the loss. He surrendered seven runs (six earned) on eight hits in five innings of work. He struck out five and walked five.

It was his first truly poor outing of the season.

Laredo scored eight runs on eight hits and committed three errors. Edinburg scored 12 runs on 11 hits and committed one error.

Catcher Josh Morrison homered for Laredo, his second of the season.

Edinburg's John Maschino (1-3) got the win.

The Broncos fall to 20-20. Edinburg, tied with Harlingen for the worst record in ULB entering Monday's contest, improved to 15-25.

Game 2 will be on Tuesday in Edinburg at 7:05 p.m.

Also in ULB action on Monday, Alexandria defeated San Angelo, 7-3, to move within a half-game of a playoff spot.

First-place Amarillo remained in first with a 17-7 thrashing of Harlingen.
