Josh Smith ran into trouble early in the first inning, twice putting the bases loaded with one out, but escaped majestically as the Broncos only managed Edgard Clemente's deep sacrifice fly to left field with one out.
Overall, despite facing seven batters and allowing the first three Broncos to reach baseball, Smith surrendered one run on one hit.
