Broncos fall under. 500

The Broncos fell under .500 as San Angelo completed a three-game series sweep of Laredo with a 7-6 on Friday in San Angelo.

The Broncos continue what has been a brutal eight-game road trip with the start of a two-game series tonight in Edinburg.

The Broncos’ Richard Bartlett fell to 1-3 after surrendering five runs on six hits in six-plus innings of work.

The Colts’ Brian Henschel (6-2) got the win.

The Broncos fell to 28-29 and remain in fourth place in United League Baseball, five ½ games ahead of fifth-place Edinburg.

San Angelo improved to 31-21 and is two games back of Alexandria and Amarillo for first place.

San Angelo led 3-0 before the Broncos scored twice in the fourth inning on RBI singles from Arnoldo Ponce and Ben Tinius.

After Steven Wright’s groundout RBI in the seventh, the Broncos cut their deficit to 7-6 on Tinius’ two-run single and Matt Lawman’s bases-loaded walk in the eighth.

But that would be all the scoring for the Broncos as they endured another heartbreaking loss.

The Broncos scored six runs on 10 hits and did not commit an error.

The Colts scored seven runs on nine hits and committed three errors.
