Pre-game for Broncos vs. Aces, Game 2

The Broncos are looking for a nice dose of momentum as they enter tonight's Game 2 of a three-game series against Alexandria having won three of their last four games.

Laredo took Game 1 in emphatic fashion last night, claiming a 13-2 win. It's hoping to take two in a row with ace Santo Hernandez on the mound tonight.

Hernandez is 7-4 with a 2.91 ERA. He leads the league in strikeouts (eight ahead of fellow teammate Gregorio Martinez) and is coming off a complete-game win against San Angelo last week, allowing one run on three hits in seven innings.

His opponent will be Alexis Sosa, who is 7-3 with a 4.94 ERA.

The Broncos will be looking to gain more ground on Edinburg, which sits 1 1/2 games behind them for the fourth and final playoff spot.

The Coyotes' game against Amarillo tonight was rained out. They are scheduled to play a doubleheader tomorrow.

The numbers coming into tonight's game: the Broncos (33-37)are 4-6 in their last 10 games but have won three of their last four.

The Aces had won eight of 10 before dropping last night's game.

Alexandria (41-26) is a half-game ahead of San Angelo for first place in ULB.
