Broncos fall in heartbreaker

AMARILLO – The Laredo Broncos couldn’t hold a three-run lead in the eighth inning as the Amarillo Dillas won Tuesday’s game, 8-7, courtesy of a walkoff double in Amarillo.

Dan Sausville (2-2) got the loss as the Broncos fell to 28-26.

The Dillas improved to 32-22 and maintain their hold on first-place in United League Baseball.

Broncos starter Sean Donlin was in line for the win after throwing six innings and surrendering four runs on six hits.

He struck out eight and walked three.

Sausville pitched the ninth with the game tied. He gave up a leadoff double to Jonathan Reynoso when Matt Lawman could not find a popup.

In the next at-bat, Keith Brachold doubled in Reynoso to give the Dillas the win.

The Broncos scored seven runs on 11 hits and committed no errors while the Dillas scored eight runs on 13 hits and committed three errors.

The Broncos are in San Angelo tonight for game one of a three-game series.
