Saturday's Doubleheader between Colts and Coyotes Rained Out
EDINBURG, Texas - Saturday's scheduled doubleheader between the visiting San Angelo Colts and the Edinburg Coyotes has been postponed because of rain. The Colts and Coyotes only played the series opener of this three-game set, which Edinburg won 8-4 on Thursday. This was also the final trip to Edinburg in the regular season for the Colts.
The two un-played games will be made up as parts of two different doubleheaders, with one taking place in each of the next two visits the Coyotes make to San Angelo. The first game will be made up as part of a twin bill on Thursday, July 31, with the first game beginning at 6:05 p.m. CT. The gate will open at Foster Field at 5:05 p.m. CT for Miller Lite "Thirsty Thursday," when 16 oz. bottles of beer are just $2. The teams will play two seven-inning contests, and then conclude what is now a four-game series on Friday, August 1, which is Texas Lottery Night.
The other doubleheader will take place in San Angelo on the second-to-last day of the regular season, Saturday, August 16, which features a Bobblehead Doll giveaway, sponsored by the San Angelo Community Medical Center. Again, the Colts and Coyotes will play two seven-inning games, with the first starting at 6:05 p.m. CT.
After playing all 49 games as scheduled up to yesterday, the Colts have now been rained two consecutive days in Edinburg. The Colts will now travel to nearby Harlingen to battle the WhiteWings in a three-game set, beginning at 6:05 p.m. CT on Sunday. Monday's and Tuesday's games both begin at 7:05 p.m. CT.
The Colts return home to Foster Field for a three-game series against Laredo, beginning Wednesday, July 9. Fans coming that night can receive a haircut from Sport Clips in return for a small donation to charity. Game time is 7:05 p.m. CT.
