Pre-game for Broncos vs. Aces, Game 3

The mood is quiet around Veterans Field today.

Manager Dan Shwam held a one-on-one meeting with each of his players in attempt to gauge opinions on why the Broncos have faltered of late.

The meetings started around 4 p.m. and did not end till a little after 7 p.m.

GM Jose Melendez reiterated to me that the team has not played hard. He added that there is no leadership nor a sense of accountability from the players.

Sound familiar?

Anyway, on to tonight...

The Broncos have lost three straight games, and eight of their last 10. The Aces have won six straight, and 11 of their last 12.

The Broncos' hitting has been horrendous in the last six games. They've averaged 4.8 runs and are hitting .233.

Richard Bartlett (1-3, 12.31 ERA) is on the mound for Laredo. This may be a pivotal game which decides whether or not he remains with the team.

He's lost three consecutive decisions and has a 1:1 strikeout-walk ratio.

With the Broncos looking at a few pitchers and hitters, the pressure is on Bartlett to perform.

Bartlett's opponent will be Robert Wooley (1-1, 6.75).

The Broncos' lineup for tonight:

RF   Anthony Bennett
SS   Arnoldo Ponce
C    Luany Sanchez
DH Edgard Clemente
LF  Dwayne White
3B   Ben Tinius
2B   Ivan Reyes
1B   Johnny Lopez
CF   Steven Wright
