Broncos win series against Alexandria with 7-5 win

The Broncos are back over .500 after pulling out a 7-5 win over the Aces on Friday night before a crowd of 1,300-plus at Veterans Field.

The Aces held a 5-1 lead heading into the bottom of the sixth inning before Laredo stormed back by scoring six unanswered runs.

The Broncos cut their deficit to 5-4 in the sixth before scoring three runs in the seventh to seal the deal.

Dave Wasylak earned his second win in as many nights. Right-handed starter Andy Schon got the no-decision, throwing six innings and giving up five runs, four earned, on seven hits. He walked one and struck out four.

Julian Williams, David Wasylak, and Rusty Jones would be the relievers and they would hold the Aces scoreless through the 7th, 8th, and 9th innings as the Broncos took the series, 2-1.

The Broncos scored seven runs on 14 hits and committed two errors, while the Aces scored five runs on eight hits and committed one error.

The Broncos move back over the .500 mark with a 15-14 record. The Broncos will be back in action on Saturday night in Harlingen for the start of a three- game series with the WhiteWings at 7:05.

In other ULB action on Friday night:

The Edinburg Coyotes (11-18) scored four runs in the first and never looked back to avoid the sweep and beat the Harlingen WhiteWings (12-18) 9-5 tonight at Edinburg Stadium.

The Amarillo Dillas (18-8), who were shutout the last two of three contests, bounced back in fine form as they trounced the 2nd place San Angelo Colts(16-13) 13-6 at Foster Field in San Angelo.

Highlighting the night, shortstop Danny Bravo hit two two-run home runs, one left-handed and the other right, as Amarillo continued their first place dominance in the United League.
