Four down

Dwayne White came to the plate as the tying run with the bases loaded and one out...and grounded into a 4-6-3 double play. Harlingen still up 7-3.

Broncos get three

Laredo's bats lit up a bit in the bottom of the third, as Dwayne White and Luany Sanchez each homered, Sanchez with Edgard Clemente on first. Sanchez has now homered in five straight games and has seven against with the WhiteWings this season. Harlingen's lead is now 7-3.

Nathan Crawford is in to start the fourth for the Broncos.

Still 7-0

It seems the WhiteWings have a monopoly on grand slams tonight, as Broncos center fielder Steven Wright got a bases-loaded situation of his own but grounded into a fielder's choice out to end the inning.

WhiteWings take a lead

Harlingen scored seven in the top of the second, thanks in part to a grand slam by designated hitter Argelis Nunez. Center fielder David Fowler also homered in the inning. Broncos starter Gregorio Martinez allowed four hits, but only two of the runs were earned, thanks to two walks and two throwing errors.

WhiteWings up 7-0 heading into the bottom of the inning.

One down

The game is scoreless after the first inning, in spite of hitting from both teams.

The biggest play of the first came when Steven Wright, on second after singling and advancing on a wild pickoff attempt, was belatedly called up for his tag up and run to third on a fly out by Arnoldo Ponce. Kate Sargeant, the only female umpire in the league, made the call on an appeal from Harlingen.

So much for that

It is 7:05, and the umpires have just arrived. Between introductions and the national anthem, we might be starting at 7:30 after all...

Tonight's game pushed up

Because of the impending rain showers, tonight's game will begin at 7:05 p.m, rather than the 7:30 scheduled start.
